Creating a performance management review cycle

Effective performance management is critical for organizational success. It aligns individual goals with company objectives, fosters employee development, and improves overall productivity. In this guide, we'll walk you through setting up a robust performance management cycle that ensures continuous improvement and engagement.

  • To begin, go to Configure > Performance and click + New Performance Review Cycle.
  • Start by setting the key details for your review cycle.
    • Name: Give your cycle a clear name (e.g., Mid-Year 2025 Reviews).
    • Open on date: Select the date you’d like the cycle to begin.
    • Release reviews to employees: Leave this blank if you'd like manager to manually release reviews to employees. Adding a date here will prevent managers from releasing reviews to employees. Entering a date here will mass release reviews to employees on a certain date.
  • Next, choose what Options to include in the review cycle by checking the relevant boxes:
    • Include self-evaluation: Employee can record notes in the same formatted template managers will be using in the review process.
    • Include Radiant AI risk: Alerts managers to potential bias or discrimination in their review text, prompting edits before release.
    • Include overall summary: Prompts managers to provide a final overall assessment (free text, numeric, or custom categories).
    • Limit participants by tags: Narrow the cycle to specific groups (e.g., Sales Team). This is useful for pilots or phased rollouts.
  • A notification is automatically scheduled for the cycle’s start date. To add reminders, click + Add new notification.
  • You can customize the two Templates
    • Manager performance notes template
    • Employee performance notes template
  • Use the formatting toolbar to add emphasis or structure to your notes. (Formatting options include: font size, style, alignment, text color with the option to insert links, line breaks, sheets or images.)
  • Select the notification Type (email or SMS) and the delivery Date.
  • Click Save to schedule the review cycle.
